Infinite held a little Olympic Games of its own to determine who the team’s best athlete was.
Infinite’s Olympic Games were held in Seongnam at an indoor gymnasium for Infinite Rank King on Mnet’s Wide Entertainment News. The episode aired on June 20, and received explosive reactions from viewers on the web and social networks.
Enews dropped by for a visit on the day of the shoot to see just how fierce the competition was.
The variety skills of a #1 idol
Infinite recently swept through main channel music show charts and even won the Triple Crown at Mnet’s M Countdown, and on the day of the shoot it proved it was indeed a top idol with its entertaining variety skills.
While many idol groups in reality shows rely on inside jokes only understood by their fans or stay passive throughout the show, the Infinite members showed they were different by being more outgoing.
Reality programs only give its cast simple explanations about the show’s topic, which makes it essential for the cast to have an attitude like Infinite along with at least some variety skills.
The members got through the situations in their own ways, surprising even the producers. Comedians Yoo Min Sang and Kim Ki Yul, who were present as the anchor and commentator, also helped them along.
Sung Kyu, Sung Jong, L, Sung Yeol, Dong Woo, Woo Hyun and Hoya entered in the opposite order of the ranks given them by fans, and they all made an entrance.
The members who appeared earlier only tried to make the staff clap along with them, but the later members put on better stunts every time and even tried to use props to stand out.
Fight to the death (?)
The reality show wasn’t all about the laughs, though. Infinite has been known for its skill with sports since it won the gold medal in the male relay match for MBC’s Idol Track and Field Championship. All of the members showed they weren’t going to let the others win so easily.
Leader Sung Kyu, who was last place in the fan rankings for the day, especially shined brighter with his competitive side. The skills of sportsman L and the burning spark Hoya all made the show seem not like a simple variety show, but an actual sport event.
The members fought in such competitions as ‘bean moving’, ‘staring contest’, ‘straw sucking’, ‘block stacking’, ‘free throw’ and ‘math run’.
Reality off-camera
The Olympics episode of Infinite Rank King started shooting near lunchtime and continued into the evening. The members were all lively as soon as they set foot in the gym, stretching or dribbling the basketball, and continued to stay lively even after the staff had all become exhausted from the long shoot.
Even when the cameras were off, the members stayed in character. Sung Kyu didn’t move around much, Dong Woo and Sung Yeol were fairly active and Woo Hyun tried to talk with everyone due to his hosting instinct.
They also continued to communicate with the producer, scriptwriters and camera directors to make the program even better. Because they had been together for four episodes, everyone was enthusiastic about thinking up new ideas and listened to what the other had to say. This attitude showed why Infinite was on the top in music, drama and variety.
